Wat Phnom - Phnom Penh

Wat Phnom is an artificial hill commissioned by  a rich widow named Daun Penh in 1373. It was built to house 5 Buddhas, 4 stone and 1 wodden, which she found lodged in a Koki tree floating on the Mekong river. The hill is 27 metres high and is the tallest hill in Phnom Penh, in fact it's the only hill.

Wat Phnom is open from 7 a.m to 5.30 p.m daily. Many people come here to pray for good luck and success. When the petitioner's wish is granted he/she comes to lay offerings in the shape of flowers or fruites.
